The 54th item on my 101 in 1001 list was to go wine tasting in Napa, California. This past weekend, I joined my boyfriend’s family for a day trip to Napa for wine tasting and lunch; it was lovely. We went to a little wine shop called Cellar Collections, which was a lot of fun! We tried several wines and cheeses, and the store provided us with peppermint bark cookies, as well! It was a small store and we were a large group so we had the place to ourselves, which was the best part of the day.
My favorite wine that we tried was called Butter Chardonnay by JaM Cellars. Apparently, the creators also made a champagne with the label Toast, and a cabernet sauvignon with the label JaM. JaM, Butter, and Toast! Isn’t that great?! I want to purchase all three at some point!
We went to lunch at the Napa Valley General Store, where I had a chicken caesar salad and the best homemade lemonade. We paused after to look at the Napa River, which was right outside the restaurant. Then we meandered around Oxbow Market, which is similar to the Ferry Building in San Francisco. We had beignets, and tried a variety of bitters at Napa Valley Distillery. There was a bunch of cocktail books and vintage glasses.
Next time, we plan on going for a weekend and seeing wineries like the Castello di Amorosa, which I have wanted to do for a few years. However, we had a lot of fun visiting with his family and trying new wine!
